Happy Fifteen Months Peanut!

Ahh, of course I didn't get around to posting for forever. It's my MO. Of course, even if I don't post here, there may be updated videos on my youtube page - http://www.youtube.com/user/laughingstare Such as videos of him catching a ball, scooping up oatmeal, sledding down a hill, playing a piano or celebrating Xmas. Tonight was cute, he tried to fall asleep in my arms 2 hours before bedtime. I wanted to let him soooo bad, however I knew I'd regret it later on. Grandpa babysat him for awhile today, while I went out and got 30 day continuous wear contacts! Woohoo! 20/20 all the time! No fumbling for glasses, knocking over a water glass, then tripping over things as I try to shove them on my face and tend to a crying baby. Win!

I was going to post this last night with more, but I didn't. So I'll post it now and do better next time!

Moo baa lalala

Peanut is getting better with talking :) slowly, it doesn't help that he's cut three teeth and grown an inch in the last couple weeks. Moo and baa, mama, dada and kitty.

Tomorrow we go to Grandmas, it's becoming our Saturday morning tradition as Boi always has to work. Grandpa gets to see him then, otherwise some weeks might go by and he'd miss out.

14.5 months basically already. This week flew by and so did the whole year. I feel like its last winter teaching Peanut to simply sit. Now it's blowing kisses and to not hit the power button on the TV. Sighs.

I don't want to get out of bed

So I won't and I'll blog. The radiator sounded like Peanut causing me to wake up this morning. No middle of the night nursing so far. He woke up for a bit a 530 but he put himself back down.

Peanut's love of shoes lived on last night as he tried to walk around in my shoes. We also opted to get a tree this year, he loves banging the lights together. He grew this last week to celebrate Boi's vacation, he's an inch taller now at 30 inches and change. And 22ish ponds.

*stretch* what else. He puked on the highway on our trip to see his other grandma and great grandma down south. That was pretty terrifying. However he was pretty perfect for the rest of the trip, so glad he didn't catch a bug.

I want to curl back up. And why not, right? Baby will be up soonish!

A Day of Videos (and Pictures)

So I really enjoyed myself last year when I just snapped Peanut's life all day long. I've been wanting to do it again, however I wanted Boi to be home the day I did it, and I wanted to catch Peanut first thing in the morning to start. Today finally both things have occurred  so today I will be capturing highlights (and lowlights) of his day.

It would appear that he doesn't cry, however he did wake us up this morning crying, but reverted to chilling out and waiting for us by the time I got the camera. I love that he's starting to be able to chill out a bit in his crib :)

Ok, we're up! I'll turn on the TV, ok? Yay, I found the button!

Wait, no TV? Diaper change? Fine, I'll read this book while you take care of that.

I love mornings where all the sippies are dirty. Bottle of milk and pancakes!

Poor cats have it rough, all they want is a little sunshine!

Time to sabatogue Daddy's radio. 80s music is not my style!

After spilling his milk all over him, it was clearly time for a change of clothes. And more reading of his favorite book.
Peanut likes to climb Daddy :)
From climbing to piggy back ride. Weeeeeee~!
Time for a snack. Well, it's for me, but I shared my string cheese.

Went downstairs to play. All the loudest toys are down here :)

We went outside to play and to wear him out for his nap. 50s today!!!

I can help!!!

Yeah, we let him play in the street. Easy running out there, come spring we'll teach him not to.

But Daddy, I don't want to go take a nap, the Packers are on!

Mmmmm nap time. One of my favorite times of the day!

Yawning, took a really long nap - 3 hours!

Long naps need nourshiment afterwards. Chicken and broccoli!

Well, apparently he didn't want to eat as much as he was playing it up. He's big into his 'throwing food on the ground' phase. Also, his waving hands at the end is sign language for 'all done'

Since Peanut's 6th tooth is cutting through, he's extra cranky, so I let him bring his loud toolbox upstairs while I folded laundry. It was.... entertaining for us both? Just be glad this isn't a video.

He was still cranky about his teeth, so I started vacuuming. He loves vacuums, and tried to kiss it.

Since he didn't eat much, we fit in a proper snack time

We had a wardrobe malfunction, therefore an outfit change. Peanut was helping me watch the Mythbusters preview.

Yup, Peanut eats. A lot. 8:00 every night he eats oatmeal, and practices with his spoon. Tonight is apple cinnamon oatmeal (homemade)

The same book he's been carrying around all day, right now Moo Baa La La La is his favorite. He used to respond with Moo when I asked him what sound a cow makes, but now instead he responds at the end with 'pa' - his favorite sound.

We decided we weren't done with the monthday pictures after all, so we decided to continue the tradition. This time on the chair with a sign. He's still 13 months for another week!

Back downstairs! A little play time for the boy.

Daddy came down to join us so Peanut could play on the ball :)

I'm sad I missed one of our favorite things. Usually we're on the main floor when it's bathtime, and we tell him what time it is, and he flails his hands in front of him (that's roughly the sign for bathtime) and runs over to the gate and bangs on it. :( Oh well

Dental hygiene is important, don't you know?

All diapered up and getting ready to put him in his pjs. Peanut has other plans though.

Packer PJs!! Goodnight everyone!!

Thanks for spending the day with us! He's sleeping now <3 and Daddy too!

Peanut Extrodinaire

He's great. Chattering away... Will show that he's one year old with a finger. He loves shaking his head so he gets dizzy and falls down. He's figuring out face parts, and will finally sit in the tub during bathtime. He wouldn't stay in his stroller again today... And he won't leave food on his tray, to the floor it goes. Hoping he sleeps tonight... He didn't last night. Ok, bye!

November fun

Ok, Halloween fun? Peanut was a dinosaur for Halloween, and he went trick or treating at about eight houses? He was hit and walking around and people exclaimed about the cute little dinosaur. He's had some rough time since. At this point I don't very much it's the Reeces we split or the cookie he had from grandma. Yesterday he pooped a lot, six times, and his butt is pretty raw, and I can feel a bulge, or maybe three, On his gums. Stupid teeth.

Today grandma is coming over to play with him. Looks like I have some work to do, yaaaay. But I want to make turkey and squash soup for lunch and also clean, so it will be the delicate balance.

I think we can really say that Has three different works. When he gets mad or sad and wants me calls me mama, he knows what sound a cow makes and when he's chasing the cats he makes a ka sound. All very rough, however he is consistently Saying it.

Sleeeeeeeep

Last night was bad for peanut and I. He didn't sleep well, and I really couldn't sleep at all. He's napping right now, thank good goodness I "ruined my diet " by going to Arby's and getting a sandwich and a Diet Coke. Really I went for the Diet Coke. I'm hoping were both a little happier after he wakes up more awake. Hopefully Boi Will be home early and won't go back into work after his special thing. Then he'll be home between three and four which would be great. If it's not raining we'll go outside later, as he is enjoying playing in the leaves and such.

Still coughing still not tooth. Good thing I love him. I'll try to post something happy later on. For now, here he is last night with Great Grandma P

Outside Play

It's a nice day outside, at least it was before it started raining. Grandma came over today play with peanut, they had a blast. He has been pretty vocal the last few days and also May have finally picked a first word. Mama :) we are struggling with the conversion to one nap a day. But to get him to take a second one, if there is even time, is like pulling nails. He had been taking two a day while he was sick, and his sleeping was getting better - 10 hour stretches at night. Last night was nothing like that, and it was his first one nap day in a while. But he also has that sixth tooth coming in. But I don't know. I tried to get him to nap longer today but he actually napped less. Rolling eyes. Hopefully the rain stops soon and the temperature doesn't drop, will go play outside and wait for his daddy to come home.

More teeth!

Ok , updating quick via my phone. Hopefully this increases the frequency of my posts, as peanut won't let me use the computer much while he's awake. He now has five teeth, and the sixth tooth is on its way. It better be soon. He is extremely cranky, and the very very very bad teether. Two more weeks until Halloween, Peanut is going to be a dinosaur. We tried on the past two months already, but he wasn't a huge fan of it. Hopefully if we try it a few more times he will like it for trick or treating.

Sorry for any typos and the like, I'm doing a voice post... Peanut is running around the kitchen finding cheese from his lunch stuck to his highchair. I guess there's no real harm in letting him eat it. Last night for the first time he brought us one of his socks and shoes to put on his feet. Usually he just wants us to put them on ourselves, but this kid seems to have an undying love of shoes, that's for sure.

I uploaded a few pictures to the post, I'm not sure how the mobile app will display it's quite but hey we'll give it a shot. One of them is at the children's museum, where we found a train table. He wasn't too interested in the trains but he like to tell them on the ground so there's that. The other one is of his new haircut. Even his daddy thought his hair, especially in the back, was getting quite long. So I took the clippers and a 1 inch all around his head, did a pretty good job with only a couple little long strands left in there. But being a squirmy baby, he had had enough so we will get it another day.

Pretty good for just quick update, have a good one.

Happy Birthday, Peanut!!!

Happy birthday to you! It was a great day, the cake was tasty, the presents were fun, and the company was awesome!

We were sad that it was Auntie K (and soon to be Uncle Z's) last day with us, but K spent most of the day with us, playing and looking after Peanut so that we could prep and clean for the party. Boi was awesome, he basically cleaned the house from top to bottom while I baked and hung balloons and organized party stuff.

Next we have GMa's birthday, hopefully we'll be able to have fun. Peanut got his shots, and he seems very sore. He's also getting over a cold.

He's now 10 inches taller then when he was born. 15 pounds heavier. Head is growing exponentially. Just shy of 30 inches, so technically he can still ride in his infant seat, if he needed to. He knows shoes go on feet, and he knows keys go in doorknobs. He will 'come here' and go get some of his toys on command. Doc says he ought to know 3 words by 15 months. Can't wait!!! He's still a baby till he starts talking. Still my Peanut :)

It's September!

He just learned how to climb this
And it's also only 8 days till Peanut's birthday. OMG! I just have not been doing anything lately. I guess that's what happens when your baby gets on the move. I haven't been scrapbooking either, I have to get caught up before my aunt shows up! Peanut is doing well, he's walking, running, climbing, he can sign 'all done,' 'more,' 'milk,' and can kind of sign bathtime. If he knows others, he doesn't do it clearly enough for me to understand. He's a bit shy when you first meet him, but he opens up quickly. So, actually I think he's getting quieter as he gets older, though he still is much more outgoing then his parents. He's also quite fearless, he chases the vacuum cleaner, he loves it when I blend or process food, the only thing that throws him is when I try to do something without him, or run upstairs for something. Tantrum!!! If I'm eating, he has to have a snack. Good thing he's eating almost everything now. He still can't handle tomato sauce and the like, which is a shame, his daddy loves spaghetti. We'll give it another go in October. He'll be eating spicy food I'm sure before we know it!

Causing mischief!
Yup, he's eating a lot now. I'm going to make the boys pancakes on Tuesday, I made beet and carrot burgers tonight, and it'll be leftovers tomorrow - however they're too spicy for Peanut, and there are seeds in there, not sure how that would go. So I'm making him mealballs tomorrow I think. That's chicken/turkey, carrots, zucchini, eggs, applesauce, and breadcrumbs, in balls and baked. He also likes spinach nuggets, which is spinach, cheese, breadcrumbs, eggs. But I want them to be a bit more moist, so I'm thinking about maybe adding applesauce to that too. Worth a try! I'm thinking I'll have that at the party, but not the mealballs, I think I'll just have mom bring some smokies over. Then I'll also have fruit and goldfish, all things that Peanut can nom on. I'll try to update once more before the party!

Random Update

It's the day before my birthday, Peanut is taking steps. Sometimes walking, often not. He'll sometimes go between furniture, gone across the room once, and will take steps towards something often. I had money on him walking a ton on my birthday, so we're going to work on lots of walking today and see if I win!

I guess people were right when they say  that the more your baby is moving around, the less time you have to blog/scrapbook/etc. But I still upload videos on occassion. So even if there's nothing here, you can go to my youtube channel for an update.

http://www.youtube.com/user/laughingstare

There's the link. And here's the video of him walking across the room. He had done a ton of walking that night (only while holding his sippy cup though) so I got out my phone to record him, and I made that choice right on time because his next attempt was this one:

We just opened up the dining room to him, the kitchen is still closed off, but we're having problems with trying to keep things safe without hiding everything. Sighs. But we're taking it an item at a time. I'm usually always with him, and whenever I see him getting into something new, I take steps to babyproof that. Letting him show me what's up and what he's learning to get into.

Other then that, we had fun on Sunday, went to Mirror Lake State Park. I was a bit dissapointed that you couldn't get to the lake without a nice long hike, and we weren't up for that at the time with a small Peanut. So we just waded in the river, and took a one mile hike, and took off. We met up with some friends and there 10-11 month olds and older siblings in the Dells. Peanut got to pet and feed some goats and deer. So he had a blast. Hopefully everyone has fun tomorrow too!

Oh hai there

I can stand!
Life has changed quite a bit. 3 weeks will do that to a person. Boi got transfered and now has a 7 minute commute instead of 40. Peanut is now 10 months old. He's starting to stand independently, no steps yet, but he's pretty much there, just needs to take the plunge.

His sleep is still mostly awful. We don't know what's wrong right now, I'm actually kind of hoping the last few nights he did have whatever bug I had. Because he should be getting over it, and then hopefully start sleeping longer stretches again. He's turned into quite the 'butt in the air' sleeper though, which is cute. Every night before going to bed, I close my eyes, and slowly make my way to his room, slip in, sidle up to the side of his crib, open my eyes, and try to track down where he is in the crib. Then I stand there, and modify my guess as my eyes adjust to the dark. I go from, his head is towards this corner, to, he's got one arm funny and his head to the left, then oh hay, he's still got his nook in his mouth. If I can't track down his nook, I run my feet along the ground to try to find it, and if I find it, I stick it in front of his face for him to find if he wakes up, in hopes  that it soothes him back to sleep.

At the splash pad
But we're trying to do everything by the book. Fill him up right before bed, give him every opportunity to soothe himself back to sleep so he's able to do it more smoothly without getting disturbed. No talking or picking him up (which we did break these last few days because he was going from 1-4 without sleeping if we didn't). Trying every trick the experts give. Everyone says they shouldn't need to eat really at night by this age, but we just can't follow that rule when he claws desperately at me, tries to sign for milk, gets nowhere, then tries signing other things. It's so sad :( I wish he could just tell us what's wrong. And there he goes, asleep for 3 hours and the second time he's awake. Gonna go be mopey.

So Hungry!

Peanut that is. I thought based on his stats at the doctors office he had gone through a growth spurt already, but the only thing that seems to make him happy is food. Bleh. Of course it is hot.

He's 9 months now, 28.25 inches and just shy 18lbs 15oz. The other night when Boi came home, Peanut rapidly cruised from the end table, across the couch, giggling happily until he reached him. He also can stand independently if he doesn't realize he's doing it. We got a week of good sleeping, just waking up once or twice, and then last night he woke up a lot again. Again with my wondering if its a growth spurt. I can't see any tooth buds, but he doesn't make these things easy.

We just have to make it to tonight, hopefully Boi will be home for bedtime, and then tomorrow night, and then he has Thursday, Friday and Sunday off. Can't wait for that! 6 day stretch, it could be worse, but it sure does take it's toll. And Peanut is getting increasingly bored being cooped up in our house, but it's too hot to take him outside.

What I do enjoy is that his favorite word today is mama. Of course, everything is mama, his food, his toys. But I still like it. Hopefully sometime soon it'll all connect and he'll say it to me and mean it.

Last Minute!

Keeping up with my promise to myself, just barely. Boi is coming home, and will be home for Father's Day tomorrow. I can finally get his gift from Peanut out of hiding. And I'm making breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack for him. ::excited::

He went down pretty easily tonight, woke up once so far. I meant to throw a blanket over his window, but hopefully I'll remember to do that tomorrow. I can still tuck him in with Boi in the morning and get ready for the big day.

Hmm, today was ok, I got some shopping in, and Peanut took a long nap with Grandma. I ran out of body wash, and since apparently J&J is the devil, I got some Burts Bees stuff. He had fun in the bubbles tonight.

The wash just got done, random tops and bottoms for Peanut at garage sales. Maybe tomorrow we'll wear something new to us :)

Refiguring Sleep Out

Giving him another week or two to decide that just because he's in bed and CAN stand in there, doesn't mean he has to. By rocking him completely to sleep before putting him down. And he's not going down easy, he's fighting it every rock of the chair. And even if you stay in the chair for several minutes, we've only got a 50% chance of getting him in the crib still completely zonked, if he even half wakes up, it's try to stand up.

I'm going to make this quick, as I wanted to try for a week's worth of posts, and well, it's already 11:20. Fortunately he slept through his recently common 40 minute wakeup, he may still wake up at midnight, but this is good progress. Still no second tooth, but here's the first one for ya.

He clearly isn't too pleased about it.

Or maybe just about it's friend, who I had hoped would have been here by now. But tonight when nursing he was doing this thing with his hand that I noticed the week the first one came in so.... *crosses fingers*

Pleeeeeeeease!

Wasting
Space
So
I
Can
Post another photo!

I pulled this out of the garage today, it's not new to us, but it's new to him (a ring toss, if you haven't figured that out) His favorite thing to do now is to crawl around with a ring in his mouth :D I love it when he does that, he's so cute!

Didn't get nearly as much done today as I wanted to. Part lazy, part clingy baby, part I DON'T WANNA NAP baby. Although the ring toss kept him distracted for a good while.

I like distractions.

I'm going to make these posts happier. I'm hopefully going to go to bed soon here! That's pretty happy, right?

This. Week. Sucked.

I don't think I've said anything since getting back from vacation. We had fun (mostly - at least during the day) vising family and friends in Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. We used up our travel vouchers finally as well.

Since my last report, Peanut can do many thing. He can climb all the way up the stairs. He can pull up on just about anything, and cruise along them. He's starting to wave, and will often clap or high five on request. He can get himself out of any position - we've had to lower the crib mattress. We've introduced wheat, and he fascinated by pasta and cheerioes. Though right now he has cheerioes and banana chunks on his tray and he likes the banana more. We found freeze dried apples and blueberries in Philly - he loves the apples but just spits out the blueberries. He'll learn to like them :)

At the Zoo, his favorite (read the only animal he showed interest in) were the flamingos. I think he would have like the rainforest exhibit, closer to the animals and there was more movement, but he fell asleep in his daddy's arms for that.

There, I tried to stay positive for awhile. We're home, Boi went directly to work after it, and we've barely seen him. I've got my second cold in a month. Peanut no longer likes to sleep or nap. Sleep completely rules a person's day, especially when they're under the weather. To keep him sleeping in the morning, we're having to switch to cosleeping, which means I get less quality sleep at that point too.

Last night, Peanut went to bed at 9. He woke up at 10. He woke up at 11. At 11 I gave him Tylenol, hoping the wakeups were due to that tooth that's trying to cut through. Nope. He woke up at 12. He woke up at 1. At 1 when he woke up he was more alert, so I tried to get him down, but he was back up faster, so I nursed him, still didn't want to go down. So I ignored him for awhile :(

Part of the problem is the vacation we took, he hasn't been the same since. Also the day after we got back, he finally figured out how to roll back to front. So he eventually fell asleep on his tummy, and whimpered on and off for an hour in his sleep. He woke up again around 2, I rocked him back down. Around 3 something, Boi finally came home from work, and he woke up again, this time he rocked him back down. Can you guess what I did at 4 and 5? HE SLEPT TWO HOURS THEN and woke up at 730. I kicked Boi and he brought him into the bedroom and they cuddled for another hour until he had to get back up for work. Now it's breakfast, I'm having a coke. Must. Find. Energy. I'll have healthier stuff later, right now I'm focusing on being awake enough to take care of him.

I had hope that maybe things were getting better, but they're not. I'll just keep telling myself to give it a whole week. Friday night, tomorrow night, that will be the night legends are made of. At the very least I should be 90-95% by then, so things should look a bit happier.

Memorial Day Weekend

In the Pool at his Great Uncle D's
Well, it's been a fun weekend. Spent Sunday at Boi's uncle's house where he got to see some of his family, and Peanut got to stick his feet in the pool. Then he was a good boy and slept the whole ride home. Peanut's tooth continues to grow out, but still not very visible. At least not to easily get a picture, but you can feel some good definition if he permits you to touch it. Today he is perfecting going from belly to sitting, so excellent job. He's pretty proud of himself about that. He's also getting better at standing up using leg power instead of just arm power. Which means he's getting into a lot more things these days, how I fear for our home.

He also decided that third naps are for 7 month olds and not 8 month olds. Sigh, he usually only takes two naps now, but last night he only slept 10 hours so he needed that third nap. I spent an hour trying to get him down. It could have been worse, him being awake from 330-10. He was actually in a fairly good mood - likely do to his crawling to sitting prowress. Then I decided, for both his and my sanity that we'd watch one episode of Yo Gabba Gabba before bathtime and bedtime. We switched from Netflix to Amazon since it's cheaper and you get more bang for your buck (on top of the instant streaming on the ps3 - book rental, extra free books and fast free shipping). Alas, the app seems buggy and it kicked us out, and then froze the console. Siiiiiiiiiiighs.

Look at me stand up at the coffee table!
Oh, and he tried his hand at some moist cheerios today. He's still working at the pincer grasp though, so not much gets into his mouth before I start shoveling it in before he wants to get out of his highchair. Then tonight I got my first experience of the joy of the next 4+ months nursing with teeth :/ Yeah. That's all I have on that.

I've got Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to get ready for our vacation starting on Friday. I REEEEEEEEALLY hope it ends up being a good time. It won't be overly restful, I know, but hopefully there will be moments of fun and sanity in it. I really should be cleaning and preparing now, but I'm pretty drained from the day :/ I'm being bad and having some ice cream, maybe then I'll be in better spirits. The house is a wreck :/ Plus I need to work. Damnit, I haven't even opened my email for a few days, that's going to be a disaster too.

But! I did finish and order Peanut's First Book! It won't get here until next week though :( So we can't take it along with us on our vacation. But I can't wait to get it and read it to him. And maybe make a second one next time a free book promotion comes along :) I made mom an account and put the free book promo in it and she got it for free too! I love stalking out coupons/deals/etc. Sometimes something comes along and it just inspires you :) Sometimes, at least, sometimes it's just Free Anti-Chafing Gel samples. LOL!

Anywho, here's the link to the book I made. Enjoy -> http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0AcNm7Zk2ZOWjoA
